FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: PAYMENT PLAN AND SCHOLARSHIPS:
Q: We can't afford the program registration fee but our girl would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?
A. Don't let cost stop you from participating! We'd love to have your daughter involved and we are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all girls.
Families can get help from one of these two ways, depending upon their needs:
1. 2 Payment Plan is offered to help with the registration fees. At the end of the registration, choose the 2 payment plan option. You'll pay half the fee when you register and the remaining half about 30 days later. Click here for Registration
OR
2. Scholarships for our program are available to a girl who needs one, thanks to generous community supporters. Scholarships are limited by the amount of funds available to the Council for this purpose and are offered on a sliding scale. Additional documentation of need may be required from the family. Q: Is the program the same every time?
A; GOTR has several versions of curriculum, and each season a coach uses a different one to provide rich experiences, no matter if it's your girl's first or 6th season. The more seasons that your girl participates, the more opportunities she has to understand herself, build skills, and experience joy, health and confidence!
Q: My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?
A: Yes! and Yes!
We are much more than a running program, and every girl can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running and movement at each practice. Each girl is encouraged to do the best she can, not matter what "best" means to her.
Q: What makes GOTR different than a sports team?
A: The INTENTIONAL curriculum.
While girls may gain confidence and character from sports, it is typically not explicitly taught or discussed with and among the girls. At GOTR, trained coaches help girls explore their thoughts and emotions on various topics within a specific curriculum. Movement, games and running help the girls experience and internalize the life skills being presented.
Q: Is GOTR a recognized leader?
A: YES!
Girls on the Run is recognized as a Top Research-Based SEL Program in a new Social-Emotional Learning Guide developed by researchers at Harvard University and funded by the Wallace Foundation GOTR is among the National AfterSchool Association’s Most Influential in Health and Wellness programs. GOTR is included in the newly released SAGE Encyclopedia of Out-of-School Learning. GOTR has been featured by national media outlets including CBS News with Nora O'Donnell, People, Runner’s World, Redbook, Women’s Day, O Magazine, Women's Running, SELF Magazine, Glamour, Shape, Marie Claire, Parenting, Running Times, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, NBC News, NPR, ESPN and FOX Sports.
Q: Is there a way for me to sponsor a girl's participation?
A: Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors in order to provide more than $30,000 in program scholarships for girls in need.
Q: Who helps accomplish the mission?
A: There are many wonderful people who help make GOTR Palm Beach a reality and support its continued success. We would not exist without our generous Donors, Sponsors, Volunteers, and Parents who entrust their girls to our care.
Each girl receives one program shirt, included with registration. Use the size chart to determine the correct size. Shirts are measured across the front, when flat.
There are no exchanges. Please choose size carefully.
Refunds of Program Registration Policy
A $45 administration fee will be charged on all cancellations requested for a registered girl before the lessons begin, with the exception of sites or teams closed by Girls on the Run, at our sole discretion. No refunds for any reason will be issued once the lessons have begun.
More detailed policies can be found in a link in your girl's registration receipt.
COVID NOTE: (updated 3/24/2022) At this time, we are anticipating an IN-PERSON 5K event. In the current environment, things change rapidly. In the event that the in-person 5K changes, we will communicate with coaches for all registered participants. Either way, we will have some fun with a "K-Your Way" event.
5K Policy
Part of the season's program may include a celebratory 5K event. Upon receipt of a signed permission slip or registration form from the parent or guardian, GOTR Palm Beach will submit the participant's name for a 5K run event. No refunds of any portion of the GOTR season's registration fee or accommodations to attend any other 5K event will be made for a participant who cannot attend the 5K offered by GOTR Palm Beach. If the 5K that GOTR Palm Beach Council has planned to offer gets cancelled, at the sole discretion of the Council, there are no refunds of any portion of the GOTR program registration fee.
5K and Running Buddies for the 5K Policy
All girls registered into a GOTR program may participate in the offered 5K at no extra cost to the families. One adult Running Buddy runs with each girl during the community 5K event. If you have someone who is over age 18 who can keep pace with your girl, will stay with her along the route, motivate and encourage her to the finish line, and cross the finish line together with her, you may sign her/him up as the Running Buddy during registration, at no extra cost to you. If not, the coach or Council will source a Running Buddy. We have relationships with local university track teams, running clubs and other community partners.
